We have been informed by our manufacturer that these pigments will not fade in UV light, as they are dependent on UV for activation. The Solar Change pigments will work, as any of our products do, in any clear, color blender, or binder. They are natively white in color, so they will look a little milky over dark colors.
This is truly the perfect "getaway car" as the color shift occurs so fast that your car or chopper paint can literally change within a couple of seconds. Pull your purple car into a parking garage, and it will be white before you know it.
Using a heavy UV sunblocker clear is not recommended as much as with the temperature change paints, as the solar change paints NEED UV in order to change.
We have excellent luck spraying our pearl paint, candy paint, chameleon paint, metal flakes, and temperature or solar change pigments in products such as PPG's DBC-500 color blender, but we understand that many of our customers are using Dupont's color blender or just any old clear binder. Using these Color Blenders, you can make over a mixed quart of UV Solar changing paint for less than 1/4 what you will pay anywhere else.
